4 ohm speakers are waaay more common, but if you can find a pair in 2 ohm, get them, cause thatll give you 250watts to each speaker. and dont ever wire more than one speaker per channel (series, or parallel). it will work fine, but youll lose your fading ability

MB Quarts are nice. Thats some high end audio you have installed.

I run my JL Audio subs parallel. ( I have 2 DVC 4ohm subs.) Makes the amp work harder but its all good. What do you mean fading abiliity? the sub level control? My head unit has seperate sub control

i was talking about speakers only, not subs. subs are generally wired to 1 channel (monoblock amp)

So the dedicatd RCA sub output on my head is mono? I thought it was stereo. (Not that we can tell the difference in low hz.)

no, its stereo...as long as you got rcas running from the right (red) and left (black or white) to your amp. if you have a monoblock amp, it simply combines the signal to essentially make a mono signal

Ok. I'm using a 2 ch amp.
if you have the channels bridged, then it runs like a monoblock. if not, your running in stereo, which is fine

a monoblock is a mono amp. my USAmps MD2 is 1800w @ 1ohm. therefore, my gains are set to sq.rt.(1800x1) = 42.4V. and my Orion 500.4 is 125w/ch @ 4ohms, so thats sq.rt(125x4) = 22.4V. I use my trust DMM to match these voltages.

Where did you stick the DMM to set your voltages? At the speaker outputs?


I used good 'ol audible distortion as a reference seting the gains. Primitive but It's what I did.
