wanting to get remote start.. help..
Lenny, and all who are wondering. GM started putting a factory security system, names Passlock (vats) on I believe an 86 corvette. Passlock I (vats) was around until roughly 1993 and could be easily verified by the resistor in the key shank. starting in 1998 on blazers, all S-series have Passlock II, and the Head of the key is now the resistor. Either the Avital 4100 or the avistart will be wonderful. identical units, just changed the transmittors.
HEY HILLBILLY.. I GOT THE 4100, AND I AM PRETTY GOOD WITH WIRING, LIKE INSTALLS OF HEAD UNITS AND STUFF... BUT NEVER MESSED WITH ALARMS AND STARTERS BEEN READING ABOUT THE INSTALL, I HAVE A HAYNES MANUAL WITH THE WIRING DIAGRAMS IN THE BACK... YOU GOT ANY HOW TO'S.... OR YOU THINK I SHOULD TAKE TO A PRO... IF YOU ARNT WAY UP IN OHIO, I AM IN GEORGETOWN, KY... ABOUT 1HR SOUTH OF CINNCI... MAYBE YOU COULD DO THE INSTALL....BUT THANKS A MILLION FOR ALL THE HELP...
mule, you got email
forgot to add Lenny, that if you get that same unit, you will need two relays with harnesses for door locks. You can buy the spdt relays from most parts stores or I can send you two for 10 bucks shipped.

Okay, I am still in the research phase and will have to see where my money leads me. Thanks for all the info, I think I would use this quite a bit being up in da UP. My friend has one on his jeep that when we go skiing he hits the button at the bottom of the hill, then we go up for one more run, then hit the vehicles to drive back home.
