Default What is RDS?

I already have my speakers and amps and all that but from time to time I go to crutchfield.com and do the whole "What fits my car" game. They never have 4 door 2005 so I always have to click on 2004 and then it asks.... 4 Doors With RDS or 4 Doors Without RDS. SO what the hell is RDS?

Radio data system maybe?

Mine displays the the station call letters and sometimes the artist currently on the air. Not all stations suppprt this.

I dont know but mine does that too. I don't see why that would matter when looking for "What fits my car" though. Seems like if you want that in a head unit you buy it and it sure as hell has nothing to do with speakers, amps, and other stuff.

i believe the rds has a data bus which controls switched power and the door chime. If that is true, then it will not affect speakers, but if you change the deck, you will need to bring switched power in from somewhere else.

Ahhh... I was just about to the point of putting my deck in but still havent as I al waiting on some 0 gauge and RCAs from knukonceptz.com. So from what you are saying....I would need to wire it myself rather than try to get a wiring harness adapter that may turn out to be incompatable with my CD player?
