I have an XM skyfi that i have hooked up to my stock delco radio via a belkin tunecast II fm transmitter.. This transmitter works great except with the skyfi reciever i get a static in the background.. i have attributed this static to the car power adapter.. Does this make any sense that the power adapter is causing a static sound in the background of the radio or is it more then likely the skyfi radio is just bad?

I would try a different line out cable from the cradle to the fm modualtor. Then you can narrow the problem down more if that doesn't fix it. Also 1 more thing the skyfi is old and the newer receivers have better sound quality as the skyfi doesn't process the newcodecs that XM uses as well as the newer generation receivers.

But yea you should look into the FM modulation. will eliminate the static as it plugs directly into the antenna port on the radio.

so i was going to wire in a 12 volt plug through a new amp in my fuse box but couldnt figure out how to add the new circuit and get power to it so instead i tied it into the radio harness 12volt and ground.. am i going to exprience any problems in the future? i did this so i can hide the xm plug behind the headunit instead of using up an outlet...
also now i get a whine in the static that increases in pitch when i rev the engine
