40 minutes SE of harrisburg eh? so columbia/marietta/lancaster areas? LOL... If you need any help or just wanna hang sometime (or hell if you know a mud hole or two to get dirty in) give me a holler.

Nice lil truck there, If my shop hadn't burned 6 months ago i coulda helped ya out with some cheap bodywork/paint. However after watching mythbusters prove that bedliner makes standard wood frame/drywall walls bomb proof might i suggest going that route? LOL.

I could sure use some help offloading this stuff. If you're available during the day tomorrow I'll buy lunch. If you're available in the evening I'll buy a case of your choice. I don't know of any off road spots, been looking myself for a bit.

Yes, I live in Hellam right now, my garage is in Columbia.

Separated the trans from the engine today and put the block on the $15 engine stand I picked up today (Craigslist strikes again, originally a $60 stand). Back at it tomorrow after my interview for substitute teaching. Snap a bunch of pics and bag/label everything. Work on it a little bit every day if possible. Pics to follow.

Engine is apart and in pieces/labeled/bagged. Called around to a couple machine shops and the best price I found was in the same town as my garage. Rough estimate of $225 to Magnaflux, clean, cylinder bore, new cam bearings and new freeze plugs. Another $175 to Magnaflux the head, clean, grind the casting marks off intake and exhaust ports, and a valve job (not sure of how many angle I need). Another race shop in the area wanted $450 for just the block. I'll probably hold off until after Christmas since I have the extra expense of having Christmas at our place this year.

PICTARS!

Open to feedback as to how things look. Especially the valves on cylinder 3 being black when the rest have clean(ish) intake valves. I'm definitely learning a lot as I go.

And the state of my garage, ready for the frame and cab to roll in, lol.

I had just swept so there was still dust in the air.

Damn, wish i coulda been there to help tear it apart.... Would have been a fun time

Cyl 3 could be excess fuel or weak spark causing a cold cylinder, hence carbon buildup.

Were the rings ok on #3? Looks a bit like low compression in that cylinder.

I will have a look at the rings when I head back tomorrow. Not much left to do until the frame/cab/rest of the parts get here. I suppose I could clean up all the engine parts that are going back on. Found a decently priced rebuild kit on eBay, but that will also have to wait until after Christmas.

I'm not trying to get crazy in performance, just want something rock-solid reliable that will last 100k+ miles with great gas mileage.

You're welcome any time. Just give me a day's notice and I'd be more than happy to entertain company.
