Default 1989 S-10 Blazer 4.3 4x4 Fun

First off, names Andrew and I am new to the forum. My first car was an S-15 GMC Jimmy. It went through many different stages. It went from chillin on a set of Corvette Rally Wheels, to a set of 18's bagged, back to stock, to be honest it was all over the place. I only had it for a year and after that I moved on to different types of cars. I have had anything from an 800rwhp IS300 to an all out full build track e46 BMW M3. However one thing was missing from my lineup of cars...my first car. Have you ever sat back and though, "Man, I wish I had my first car back?" Well that thought had come into my mind. I started out my search for an S-15 GMC Jimmy with no luck of one that was clean or even one that I could turn into a project. I wanted clean interior and a straight body. Well, then I figured I would switch gears and look for an S-10 Blazer...no luck.

That was until one of my parents friends told me they had just what I was looking for. A 1989 S-10 Blazer 4.3 4x4. Digital Dash, clean interior, 1 owner, 125,000 miles on the odometer. I was like...okay what's the catch. "It's been sitting for 8 years under a carport. It hasn't been cranked, moved, nothing". So I went to pick to take a look at it...and I brought it home! I didn't want to take a chance on damaging anything in the engine. I have taken cars like this before and put oil in the spark plug holes and let it sit over night and they will fire up, however I didn't want to chance it. So with that said, I pulled the motor and did a full rebuild. I know...I know...I could had dropped a V8 in it but I wanted to keep it as close to OEM as possible. New pistons, rings, rods, oil pump, water pump, valves...if it moved, had a gasket, anything it got replaced. Even the exhaust, fuel pump, fuel filter, injectors...anyhow you get the point.

I will have more updates soon. Right now I am in the process of sanding down and repainting the frame. From sitting for so long it was pretty rusted. Here are a few pictures I have right now. I will take more later this weekend on the progress as well as some interior shots.

Glad to be part of the forum as well!

Looks to be in pretty good shape. But man, had the 4.3 out, and it went back in :S

I know, a lot of friends have already been on my case about it...but I wanted to keep the 4.3. Maybe next time I'll throw in the 350. Lol
