I spent about 1 1/2 hours with a grinder with a wire wheel on it and put 2 coats of black Rustoleum hammer finish on the springs.

I also ordered Energy Suspension 3.212R. It comes with bushings for the frame and the rear of the spring. However, the front eye of the spring is bigger and the kit does not come with those. So I have to try and find urethane bushings for the front of the springs.

So with my wife only working part time money has been tight, and it has been cold. That is what I haven't updated in a while. I did a few boring things over the winter. I got a new spare 16" spare steel wheel from a 96 camaro, shot it silver and got a used tire. My stock spare tire was majorly rotted out.

Bought a set of used HIDs from a co-worker, the difference is night and day (that was a headlight joke). The ballasts tuck nicely behind the headlights. Compared to the stock low beams you can see a major difference. I also did the quad beam mod.

I also got 4 cheap shocks from Advance auto. I don't plan on keeping them on forever but I grabbed them for the time being because it was what I could afford. I felt like I was driving a waterbed and it was all over the road. After a coupon code they only cost me $56 for all four. I got the rear on which was super east. Then I got extremely ill for a few days and didn't get to the fronts. I might do the fronts this weekend.

The rears looked like doodie and took a while to actually fully extend once they were out.

So I finally got my bonus from work so I decided that some of it should go to the blazer, to fix the broken leaf spring and some other things. So I got my Diff cover, axle seals, backing plates, brake shoes, brake shoe hardware, leaf springs, leaf spring bushings, and u bolts replaced. I had a guy I know do it for $300 because I just don't have time. It wound up costing me $355 because one of my caliper brackets had the slide pins ceased in there, and he had to replace some of the bolts. He also put stainless bolts on the diff cover, my other ones were pretty bad. He also came and picked the blazer up and brought it back to my house. He is pretty cool guy. I forgot what it was like to have a working emergency brake, I can park on hills now.

Urethane bushings, makes a world of difference. Plus here is Rexmburns' old leaf springs given new life

New backing plates. Some idiot put his thumb in front of the camera

New diff cover and stainless bolts

Here is some of the junk that was taken out. I knew my backing plates were bad, but not that bad.

Here is the eye that he had to cut off the leaf springs. This had been broken for quite a while now.

Me too. My old leaf springs were in a very sad state.

I'm sure the ride is like night and day. Funny story about a buddy's Jeep, he needed new rear leafs but couldn't get ones for his jeep. So we ended up finding an s-10 which had just made it to my favorite pick yard, which had brand new s-10 leafs in it.

Long story short, s-10 leafs are a great substitute on a Cherokee

Congrats man that's some good work.

Those backing plates get real bad here in the north east they basically fall off when you go to replace them.

Truck is looking good.

I know, I live in Pennsylvania. Everything gets rusty around here.
