Couple minutes with an angle grinder and a flap disc will fix that

 

A few months ago when I got in an accident I bent the exhaust where the tailpipe was welded o the muffler. Well I guess It finally came off. Because this was laying on the rear axle when I picked my son up from my parents' house after work in Friday.




The muffler was fine, but it is really loud without a tailpipe and since it is a V6 it sounds like poo. This was on the end of the muffler, when it broke off it got all twisted, so I chopped it off.



Grabbed a cheap turn down from Advance auto parts hoping to point the exhaust at the ground.



It didn't help, it is still stupid loud, luckily the tailpipe itself is fine, I just need a short extension piece to make it fit.

 

So this happened on the way to work yesterday.



I saw a cloud of smoke behind me and looked down my oil pressure was at 0. I blew out the oil cooler line that runs to the block. I took one of the company cars over to meet the AAA driver. After he left I followed the trail of oil. According to the odometer I left a trail for .8 miles. I got it towed and the guy my dad works with just got it done. Apparently I need motor mounts as well. It only cost me $150 which is pretty good especially for getting it fixed so quick. I think I need to eliminate the whole oil cooler system.

 

Well that stinks, could have been worse though. Glad you got her all fiexed.

This is the part I used to delete my oil cooler. Threads right into the block, and filter threads on it....I think it was 8 bucks. From what I've read, on 4x4s you need to use a shorter oil filter because the torsion bars-and it's a PITA to change the filters

 

Funny thing is that I accidentally bought a 2WD filter last time. I did get it back yesterday and I fixed the exhaust finally. Had a hell of a time getting the tailpipe welded to the muffler, it was hella rusty and I kept blowing holes in it with my welder. Also, the guy told me that my driver's motor mount is no longer 1 piece. I am debating weather I want to try replacing it myself. I can't find a good quality rubber mount, and I don't want to run urethane.

 

Since i got the blazer back yesterday i put about 40 miles on it and all was well. So today i decided to clean the oil off since the belt was coated in oil and making a not so pleasant sound. I sprayed everything down with greased lightning and let it soak for about an hour and then sprayed it down. I let it dry for a while and went out to dinner with the in-laws fir my wife's birthday. On the way home my oil pressure dropped to 0. So i pulled over and there was plenty of oil in the engine and everything looked okay. So i started it and the oil pressure went up to around 35ish psi. Then i had no headlights. So i shut it off and started it up again and everything was fine. About half way home my oil pressure dropped to around 20 and stayed there the entire way home. I got home and revved the engine but the oil pressure gauge never moved. However, after revving it a large cloud of smoke came out from under the hood. Something was burning off of the exhaust. Still plenty of oil and all of the other vital fluids in it. So I shut the hood and gave up for the night.

 

wow mine just blew 3 weeks ago. It blew the hose clean off the compression fitting. They were original. And of course it sprayed onto my radiator fan and it was all down hill from there. I was only about 500 feet from where I was going and it was 5 minutes from my house so I had to change the lines in that parking lot. Not very fun

 

I might see if he still has the old one. I might take that and my other line and find a shop that makes high pressure fittings and replace both of them eventually with something that should outlast the car. I don't know what brand he used to replace it but I am guessing probably more Dorman junk since that is the most readily available.

 

Did you ever figure out the headlight/ oil pressure issue? Curious if it was an electrical issue, or you still have an oil leak and the headlight issue was coincidental timing
