For my next minor mod, I'm thinking of tackling the grille. My question is paint or plastidip?

I used plastidip and haven't had a problem. It's been through multiple high pressure car washes along with some mudding.

I haven't gotten up the nerve to do the grille yet, but I did do the exterior door handles. I'll post pictures soon. Huge difference. Also, I've started redoing some of the interior with plasti dip. I've done the interior door handle trim so far. I was in a hurry and forgot to get before pictures, but I'll try to get some more pictures from here on in the process.

Here is a before and after of one of the outer door handles:

Before:

After:

Here is what the interior door handles look like. Sorry for not having a before picture, but I've included a pic of the whole door panel. The entire thing was all one color, obviously. I think it looks much better, and I still plan on painting more of the door panels and interior. I also plan on doing the grille some time.

I've got a "wandering" issue. The truck is all over the road, particularly at highway speed. I'm going to take it in for an alignment Saturday. Not a very exciting update, but needs to be done. Hopefully that fixes it.

It's been a while since I posted anything. I spent some time installing a DVD player in our Traverse, then we went on vacation. I've been busy with random things since.

The wandering issue I was having is still a problem. I'm going to have someone else diagnose it. I've tested and retested just about everything and have ruled very few things out at this point. I planned to replace several of the front end parts eventually anyway.

On another subject, I started smelling gas around the truck about a week or week and a half ago. Never saw any puddles underneath and it drove fine. Got a chance to take a look Monday. Jacked it up and dropped the tank (never my favorite thing to do). Got everything unhooked and pulled out and found that the sending unit of the fuel pump had a small crack in the return tube. Got the new one installed and so far so good.

Hopefully soon I can work on adding something to it rather than fixing something that broke.

Browsed through your thread this evening and thought it was awesome. Like a few people mentioned before, I like your attention to detail. Good work, I like the painted handles. Nice touch.

Thanks for the compliment! I appreciate it! I have some bigger things I would like to do also as $$ allows. For now there are several detail type things that need to be done since it is 16 years old.

Understand that. I need to paint my roof rack soon, what paint did you use?

I'll have to confirm when I get home, but I think it was just a charcoal gray Krylon or Rustoleum with a metallic-type effect. If I had it to do over again, which I may at some point, I would have sanded all the old paint off and put down a nice primer first. I did scuff it first and sand down the chipped places, but I could still see where they had been if I looked at the right angle. Then again, I may do Plasti-dip next time.
