Loving those GMC caps

Did you steal them off the blue one?

 

Yes, the blue one is a GMC Jimmy, it's the wife's. We got two new tires with the Blazer so I bought her two more of the same tire and put them on the Blazer rims. There a little smaller but she really likes them. All four tires needed replaced on hers so I just put four new tires on the GMC rims and put them on the Blazer. There interchangeable so it's nice, but the GMC rims do look better.

I pull from Blazers all the time for mine. As much crap as GM gets for their identical cars, it does have its benefits at times lol

 

So I decided to try and make this my winter daily driver. I went ahead and did the trans.

Now I am moving on to the brakes. It's got a noticeable pulse when the pedal is applied. Any suggestions on a good brand of rotors and pads. I may also do the calipers too.

I need to go over it real good so I can get it inspected.

I got Brembo brake pads on clearance from rock auto and I am really happy with them. As far as rotors you can't really go wrong with a good brand like Raybestos or ACDelco.

 

Well I got new brakes and rotors all around. Took it for a test drive, rear calipers sticking, no problem I can do 2 new calipers, about a half hr out, about 100 miles since the battery was connected it pops a code, my heart sank.

P0440 EVAP.

Otherwise it drives and rides nice.

Replaced the rear calipers with NAPA rebuilt ones. No more drag now, and gets a little better milage, go figure.

I took a few parts from the wife's old car. One of the parts was the MAF. I did this to help with the EVAP code but I noticed it pulls a lot stronger through the mid range. This was a pleasant surprise.

I put over 200 miles on it and still have two monitors that are not ready. AIR and CAT.

Got the code figured out and repaired, then got it inspected. So now I am legal.

So I've decided to use it during the winter and see how it does.

I am thinking about spraying the under side with oil for better rust protection. I did my truck with Fluid Film last year. Can't really say if it helped much or not.

I have a few small things to do, then just do repairs and updates as I go
