body swap? 1992 frame/1987 body
stalled out..
I have a 1992 full size blazer that I put a lot of work into (6 " lift, strong 350, big tire, exhaust ect), but my newly 16yr old daughter rolled it (soft roll/body damage only).
I also have an all original 1987 full size blazer 61k miles. It had been sitting for a few yrs, but runs ok for a 305.
Question is I will have to add $$ to the 87 to get the drivetrain up to my standards, as I run em hard hunting here in IOWA.
Is a body swap possible? not worried about resale/original value as I will keep em in the family? or do I invest in the 87 and build it up to my specifications? lift? what type? tires/wheels, exhaust ect..

In my opinion...SFA all day when it comes to ease of use/modification. The IFS setups are restrictive to say the least. IFS can ride nicer than a leaf spring SFA, but that's about the only plus in my book. Sure, great IFS setups can be built, but you'll spend a lot more time and money doing it. All depends on your goals and pocketbook.
I agree, the SFA would not be bad to lift/modify, but everything was already completed on the 1994 IFS. The frame on the 1987 K5 is so/so needs exhaust, tires, wheels, lift ect. Its all original, but the 1994 has been beefed up tried/true. It was a GREAT running/Hunting rig.. I just wanted to see if its feasible to switch frames without too many complications. Wheel base difference was minimal. The wrecked body on the 1994 is beyond repair, but the 1987 is still in very good condition.
