"dirt devil" build thread
Do you have any more photos or detail on how you did the rear bumper? Did you just weld a receiver in between the frame rails and cut the pieces of the bumper that you had to to make it fit
since the trailer hitch was the lowest point on my truck from departure angle it always dragged on the ground and my rear shackles were hitting the trailer hitch from the s10 leafs. i have a body lift so what i did was use the brackets on the body lift kit removed my rear bumper and welded my reciver hitch between the 2 bumper brackets and reinforced it with 3 peices of scrap steel plate to the frame for added strength. then i made a custom rear lisence plate bracket and used the factory steel light brackets off the oem bumper and welded it to the side of the bracket to use the oem lisence plate lights. we then welded 2x 20 000 pound 2 rings for recovery points. we test fit the oem bumper over the unit and marked where it needed to be cut. we used a plasma cutter and notched out the middle section of the bumper to fit around it snuggly and then bolted it up as it was a factory item. final stage was to paint it with duplicolor bed armor
hey so this weekend was a great weekend to catch up on the loose ends of my truck as i got a bonus from work. i have been restoring a military jerry i picked up for 15 bucks. it was origginally greeen and i had cleaned the tank out and sanded it all down and painted it red. here is the pics of the finished results.

then i got some goodies from summit racing on friday and begain to make the removable jerry can holder that attaches to my spare tire rack. heres what i did.
bought a small reciver tube and a reciver and cut it to size.

heres the smittybilt locking jerry can holder

here is the mock up and finished build of it

here i have bought a daystar high lift jack isolator

heres it installed

heres some energysuspension universal bump stops as mine were so rotted and was causing me to bottom out hard. so i upgraded.

sat i went to the scrap yard and purchased a 145 amp alternator to run all my accessories and winch as my factory amp wasnt cutting it anymore.

i used a 96 inch long belt and fired it up and my voltage was sitting at about 14 with no drops in voltage.
i picked up a car fridge from a gradge sale for 5 bucks and it works amazing. its exactly like the arb ones saving me alot of cash in the end. now i can bring frozen food on my expedition travels

my 2 gallon air compressor with tire gauge

i had to fix my winch line after pulling a few friends out of tricky situations and cased the cable to break

after all my mods were installed it was time to go wheeling with some friends. sat nite consisted of pulling out a random jeep that the guy didnt know how to wheel and got him self into a dumb situation he had a warn 9000 pd winch and he was affraid to use its full limits so i used my 9500 winch with 10 000 ****** block and pulled his butt to saftey.
me hooking up the ****** block to reduce line pressure

after the recovery we went a little further on the trail and set up a fire with some friends. here is a pic of mine and a friends blazer

pic of my truck and my girlfriend

sunday we decided to all get togther and do some local offroading here we are in the forest

i got hung up on the logs as they were intangled and cought my under carrige. after the one wheeling spot got croweded we decided to take another trip to a local quarry and rock hills. getting in was interesting as the mudholes and obsticles were a challenge.

yes my friend in the black blazer had to pull both me and the red blazer out as we were both hung up

here is the quarry and the rock hill. im standing on the hill in the pic. i drove my truck down the hill afterwards and tried to go up. i ended up breaking a cv shaft on the rocks and had to be winched out

hey everyone been awhile since i posted anything on here i have been busy with work and getting my priorities togther but im back with a vengence and some updates on the truck. i had gotten the the repairs done after the last posts of offroading and turned out a 500 bill.new front berring hubs, new cv shaft, new inner tie rod and fluid, serviced the front breaks as well and alighment. i have been fixing the truck up slowly and doing alot of offroad adventures with fellow friends and i will post pics up of some progress from before to where it is now with some offroad pics from lingham lake ontario near trenton
heres the truck after a fresh bath and i decided to paint the silver plastic stribe on the body panels the slts have i think it looks better

then i was planning a trip to lingham lake with a 50 km offroad trail so i purched a incab video camera to record some vids on the trail and trip. got it new on kijiji for 40 bucks in box. holds up to 32 gb sd card chip and has many functions

heres some pics of us meeting up in colburg ontario. i took a pic of the gas sign as its 1.31 a litre where i live so i was spoiled to fill up for this cheap. heres some pics of us at the gas station. the jeep is new only 3 weeks old

heres the map we had done after the entire day. we left at 6 am and returned sunday morning at 4 am. put 1500 km on the truck and 220 bucks work of fuel

after we arrived at lingham lake we hit the trails. there was alot of tight paths, corners and rock faces with deep water crossings and forestry. heres some of the view

we got through all the obsticles and no one broke. we decided to take a break halfway into the trail and take some pics.

heres a pic of me so u all know

we found some little shacks out there only way yto get to them is by 4x4 or quad

after we got through the trail we met up to talk

i looked at all out trucks and realized that they were all too clean from what we went through so i scouted around and found this.

i had to get some mud on my tires

we decided to head back to town after the trail to timmys to freshen up.

then we decided to take some sceneic routes home and found a lock with a old retired bridge.
