Cool East German Blazer Rebuild and customizing

Today I want to present my 95 Chevy Blazer.
I bought in April 2010 in a very poor condition.
The Parking Brake Cable and the vacumm hose to the 4x4 Actuator were cut(!), the radiator leaks, the cooling fan clutch werd defective and many more problems.

But, I need a hobby.

First operations were a complete fluid change, some new suspension parts inclusive a 2“ Suspension Lift with Torsoin Bar Keys and Shackles, new Tires from General Tire in 265/70R15, new shock absorbers on the front axles.
So it looks after that works.

One week after the buy, my dashboard began to smoke!
I looked for the failure anb found it at the lighting.
So the pre-owners soldered the Sidemarker sockets very bad on the cables, that ther e were a high resistance.

Next problem was a wet carpet and a bad, musty smell in the car.
The Water Outlets of the trunk were plugged with mud an dust.
I disambled the complete interior, except the dashboard.

After I fixed the first problems, I began to customize my car.
First, I upholsterd the Armrest of the Center Console with vinyl and make a new cuff for the shifter lever.

In December 2010 I changed the diferential fluid and painted the cover red.

From a good friend I get some Fender Flares for less money, and many other things like Front Bumper, Tailgate dampers and many usefull things, because he slaughtered a 96 Blazer.

For example black taillights. 100Times better than these Euro-Style-taillights.

After a time I replaced the Timing Chain Cover, the Seal, Timing Chain and the Gears. And i painted the Timing Chain Cover and the Water pump in red.
It was a little fiddling to assemble the Timing Chain Cover.

In march I mounted some Hi-Jackers and began to upholster some interior parts like the glove box cover, the center console, roof console.

I the roof console I mounted 2 24-LED-Panels and in a 6LED-Panel for the trunk lighting.

And I painted the frames of the spots in neon orange.

Now, I needed a holder for my CB-Radio.
My apprentice bent some stainless steel sheets and i painted it neon orange to.
I tried to use it as a Navigation holder too, but i was not satisfied by the operability.

In the meantime I get my used bought Cragar back fromd powder-coating and mounted them.

In germany, you must have a Rear Fog Light.
The pre-owners installed , in my opinion, a very ugly switch.
So I replaced it by one from a yacht and milled and coated a frame for it.

The last weeks I repaired my Power Seats, installed a 1,2 meter long antenna on the roof and I get my Dashboard Cover.

This week, I installed with many helpful tips of Steinbruchsoldat my 2“ Bodylift.
It were made in one day but for one damned screw I need three days an two 15-sockets to loose it.

very tight working conditions

Today I prepared my Blazer for painting and tomorrow another friend get it to paint the lower silver stripe in black, because it lokks better with the black fender flares.

In the meantime, I work on a roof rack and some roof lights.

to be continued...

Why not? I like that.

Here some pics of my painted sway bar and new bushings.
They came from energy suspensions.

Any time I will order a new carpet, butfor now I bought some doormats in a DIY market for 5$.
They are sturdy an look acceptable.

The water leaks are eliminated, so the carpets should be dry.

I want to let upholstered the seats, because the seat covers donīt look so good (colour and material).

Last year I let a retired upholsterer repair the covers for only 20$, so now they are in a good condition, but I donīt like them.

Yesterday I brought my car to my buddy. He is car varnisher and will paint the lower silver stripe in black.
I think it woulb look better with the black fender flares.

I disassembled the parking/turning lights an polished them, because they were much tarnished.
