So few updates. My father in laws blazer has been sitting for over a year cause he took out the bottom end so he finally convinces me to swap the new motor in for him. Made out pretty good gave me a new snap on creeper and an engine stand and a set of Mac tools 6ton stands plus paying me. Old engine out New engine in Backed out and ready to go
in the middle of doing the swap I went on an overland camping trip and decided my 31s were too small and bumped up to 33/12.5
I also got an auto dimming rear view mirror from a blazer at the wreckers and grabbed the whole wiring harness for it. Was an easy swap with the harness and found out there is auto dimmer side mirrors with it so went to grab them and they were gone already
I really do like how they fit and look. I do hit the frame at full lock but I’m gonna build up the stops for that. And hard flex I rub a little bit but again no sway bar allows for more flex so if I put it back it should limit that
So I managed to get a zr2 read diff on Wednesday for 175 complete with brakes (was -45 with the wind when I pulled it out). Just finished putting it in had to get a moog 447 conversion ujoint. Also pulled the tire carrier before from it and got a new set of 31 duratracs with a full size spare
So I decided to rebuild my father in laws old engine since it was low mileage. Gathered everything up and here are the pics. It is now done and installed and runs amazing. My brother took the heads to his work to grind the valves and clean them all up When we pulled the old engine with 372k km on it the engine mounts were shot
I went with new everything. My old engine was an l35 and the new one is a lu3. I’d upload the video of it running but it’s too large. The cam in the old block was eating my distributor gears and timing chain was super stretched
