Well, been a couple months for an update. All the previous fixes seem to be holding up well, no issues with what I've done. Added a couple things to the initial list:

-ABS issue: Light comes on intermittently and ABS has activated falsely on one occasion. Thinking I will just disconnect the fuse for now until new hubs come in. Going to start there. If that doesn't solve it, I guess I will tear into the module and reflow solder joints.

-"Funny Noise" issue: A ticking; relay; solenoid type sound makes a random appearance in the back lift gate from time to time. Originally though it was the old rear wiper motor since it is essentially shot, but removed the fuse and the noise persisted. Pretty annoying. Can happen just from opening any door without the key in the ignition. Probably just going to have to tear into the rear gate to see what is making the noise. Oddly enough, while trying to diagnose, I found that playing with the rear defrost button (ign on) seemed to sometimes assist in activating the sound, and when I disconnected the rear window connections, it seemed to not make the noise. Probably a coincidence, this should be an interesting one to track down.

My ABS light does the same exact thing.

So here's what I did, haha. I banged on the back of the hubs with a hammer to see if it would shock any stuff loose from the sensors. Probably didn't do anything, but you never know lol. He didn't have the light come at all yesterday or last night when I test drove it around town for a while, and he said it had been coming on consistently everyday. I'm still going to order front hubs just to be safe, they're cheap enough.

If you get a code reader that does abs it will tell your which hub it is. I have one and my light comes on all the time my reader tells me it’s my front passenger side sensor from when I changed the hub out

Thought about getting one, or going to have it scanned somewhere, but it doesn't really matter as I will replace both of them. No idea how old the hubs are. When I bought it, the ad said "new breaks and barrings"....Yes, spelled exactly like that. Taking a look at the hub bolts, doesn't look like they've been out in a few years, so guessing not "new" by my standards, haha. If I continue to have issues, I think I will pick an ABS up. Sometimes I do things backwards....oh well.

I've actually been seriously considering changing out both front hubs. Even have them in my shopping cart. Just waiting to take care of a few things first.

The clicking noise in the rear hatch could very well be the rear wiper. I would pull the fuse and my rear wiper would still continue to run. Same would happen when I would pull the switch and unplug it. Part of the crazy electrical fun in these trucks. I ended up replacing the motor and pulse board and solved the problem. Pretty cheap fix from Amazon.

Really??? No kidding.... Yeah, I pulled the fuse and it still seems like the wiper motor trying to run (the shaft is broken/stripped so I really can't tell). Figured it was something else... Interesting. Was going to pull it apart last night to see but ran out of time. Thanks for the heads up that it can still be trying to activate, must be a couple circuits back there.... Thank you

Time for an update:

Son has had a couple mornings at about 25 deg F that it hasn't started on the first time cranking. I know the battery has been weak, (AC DELCO 700cca from 2015), and I know the ignition switch can be touchy. So I decided to start with replacing the battery. We replaced it with an EverStart Plus at 600cca, should be just fine for normal use. Reminded him when it is cold to turn the key slowly instead of all the way forward. If this doesn't take care of it, will replace the ignition switch next.

Also, wile driving with him, heard a brake grinding from the rear. Will have to look into this and most likely replace rear pads and rotors.

I put in the exact same battery in June. So for so good. Mine will sit for up to a week at a time and have had no issues so far.
