Default Mint 88 S10 Blazer 2.8 want to swap 89 4.3

Both are S10 Blazer's, 4X4 automatic. I have a wimpy 2.8 with 75,000 miles on it. I also have a 89 4X4 automatic 4.3 with almost 200,000 miles! Very tough and reliable! But the body is in poor shape The 88 is in almost 'Showroom' condition. I want to rebuild the 4.3, with the recently rebuilt tranny and put them in place of the 'mint' 88, 2.8 and tranny. I have been told that the only changes I have to make is the wiring harness. Hmmm....I have already noticed that the AC compressor and the alternator are on the opposite sides and a lot of wiring is different.
Is there anyone who is experienced, or 'has' experience with this kind of transition?? I believe that a lot more than the wiring harness is the only change. Thank you for any good info!!

it's time consuming, but not incredibly hard be patient and label every wire you unplug.
