Well as most of you know I actually let my baby go to a new home and now I have a new more reasonable ride for DD use. I traded straight up and this is what I ended up with (minus the roof rack) (also these are not my pics)...









Its has 91k on it and the motor is out of a 13' VW CC with only 41k on it with paperwork to prove. Its the Wolfsburg edition with the 2.0t and 6 speed manual which is surprisingly peppy and fun to drive! Its lowered ALOT on Solowerks coilovers and needs to be raised up at least an inch so that will be happening soon. It also needed a REALLY good cleaning and my 5yr old was more than happy to help get in the tight spots!


The tail lights are a factory option but they are way to ricey for me so I have a plan for them that I will update more on later but heres a pic of the ugly for now!


Next order of business was to rip the stupid HIDs out of the non projector housings and put proper bulbs back in them! Since the VW uses sockets to hold the bulbs they have to use adapter so install HIDs and the factory sockets were gone and at $33 a piece I wasn't buying new ones so I adapted the adapters to work with standard bulbs.

Good OSRAM bulbs too..


I also needed a VW capable scan tool to read the check engine light and confirm the CEL was in deed for the 02 sensor as I was told it was for so after some reading I settled on this one until I decided to spring for a Ross-Tech HEX-USB+CAN VCDS cable to be able to really dig into things but at several hundred dollars that is going to wait a bit lol!

That's one clean Volkswagen! I work on a lot of Audi's at my job, as well as other European cars.. and cars made by Volkswagen-Audi Group are(in my opinion) by far the most well built German manufactured auto.

I definitely agree those taillights are a little too much... If you could separate the lens from the housing, the silver area might look good body color, or black...And it would be quite a bit more subtle than what it is now. Just an idea, I'm interested to hear what you were thinking for it.

Looks like it's going to be a good car. Especially with the low miles...Looking forward to seeing it come along

Clean looking car. Heck of a swing going from a Blazer to VW. The S series has it's quirks, but you're getting into a whole new can of worms with that thing

That is a big change from the blazer for sure. I have to agree on the taillights. They are a little too ricey even though they are factory optioned.

 

Ok time for a few updates!!

I found a killer deal on a little upgrade for the sounds today. The factory stereo is actually pretty decent but it could use a little help with the lows so after some perusing of Craigslist I found a nice little setup for a deal I couldn't pass up. It's a simple little JL setup consisting of a 12" sub and a 250/1 amp packaged in a JL built box. I'm not looking for crazy loud just some decent lows so this should fit the bill perfectly. I picked everything up for $100 so I think I did alright.

I found a easy $6 solution for the ricer tails until I can find some ricer kid to trade me for his or her factory red tails as well. Hello red vinyl! And I added a roof rack back to it.

After getting all of the light bulbs back to regular halogens instead of the HIDs and LEDs the housings needed some attention as well so I cleaned them up and resealed them.

Now I just need to to get the stupid wasp carcasses out of the inside of the headlights!!

And just to show how low the damn thing is here it is next to an identical model




I've also put new plugs and an oil change along with a new 02 sensor and got it through emissions without issue. The other addition was that I wired an aux cord into the factory sat radio so I can play music through my phone and have hands free as well.

And just to let a bit of the Blazer live on I transferred the plates to the Jetta although it doesn't really make sense on here I don't care!!!

Lol.... It's a nice ride... Always wanted a jetta... Still think you should've kept the blazer as a weekend toy lol

 

The red tail lights look so much better, as do the cleaned up headlights. $100 for that sub and amp is a pretty good deal.
