My small 09 Jetta build

Thursday started with a bit of odds and ends with the wiring.
I wanted to have an easy but solid way to disconnect the speakers individually inside the doors if needed so after some searching I found these bullet connectors to be a popular option. They require soldering the wires into them so with the clean theme I did some soldering and Techflexing.
I also soldered all of the wires directly to the speaker terminals.
Also if you plan to do any soldering this thing is awesome for holding wires and things in place!
It makes it really easy to get a nice clean solder joint. Here is one of the wires from a bunch I got started on for running from the crossovers back to distribution blocks (more on this later)
Thats all of the wire play I have done so far but I have a LOT to do yet!

Then between yesterday and today I got a good start on building the false floor.
Base
Frame The gap in the middle board is intentional for wire management
Then it was cardboard time!
Then I transferred the template to wood.
And cut it out
I had to figure out a way for accessing whats under this panel without having to remove the entire thing so I cut some holes in it that will both become hinged panels that will lift up for access.
Here's another shot
Crap in car pic. You can see that I had to cut it in half to fit in the trunk. You can't really tell from the pics but I left a 1/4" overhang inside so I can maybe hide some lighting in there.
Here you can see the corner cutout.
With the electronics roughly in place. I don't know if I will keep the handles or not but for taking it in and out for fitment and such they make things way easier.
And here you can see the rear compartment that will be used for the speaker distribution blocks and who knows what else.
I still need to make the lids and get them attached but this is where I left off today. I still have a long way to go and some decisions to make whether I want to carpet the entire thing or only the inside and do a wood/fake wood top floor.

You gonna put in fans, those amps get hot. Although it might be a good thing if the VW burns

You watch Car Auto Fabrication with Mark on YouTube don't you
The audio setup is looking good! I'm a sucker for clean audio equipment installs

Nice inset. I'd keep the handles.
Looks like you love to tinker with the audio so you may want to be able to remove it easily.
