My small 96 Blazer build
#1291
Got a bit more done today. Still got a bunch of grinding to do and I have to add a strip below the tailgate but all of the hard stuff is complete!
Before
After
You can see where I cut out slots so it will slide into the bolts that hold the factory bumper end caps on so I can utilize them and keep the bumper nice and tight to the body.
It appears to have a gap but that's just shadow
The passenger side is done as well I just haven't taken pics of it. Hopefully I can get the rear finished up tomorrow and put some paint on it for now until I'm ready to add clevis mounts and a receiver.

Thanks guys!
It's done for now! I'll add more later but for now it's painted and installed. Overall I'm happy with how it's turned out. I also started modifying my tire carrier to fit the 8 lug pattern. I'll run my license plate inside the spare rather than on the bumper so for now it's got a temporary home lol!
All ground out
Incase anyone is interested in how I mounted it. The tubes sit on top of the frame rails and then I reused the factory bolts to bolt it on.
The extra plate was to take up space and add support to the bumper. Oh and I finished the welding after I had taken the pics.
Sprayed it with some cheap bedliner for now since I'll be grinding a good bit if it off later anyway
A little profile of where everything comes together at the fenders
And mounted. You can see I still need to add the strip below the tailgate as well.

Now all I need to do is either clean/shine up the bedliner that was already on the truck or get some mud on the bumper. I have a feeling I know which what this will go...

If any of these new plastic wonders on the road today rear-end you, you won't have a scratch ... but they'll be leaving on a flatbed!
Looks mint too! Nice work!

Spare tire carrier is back.
My sweet mock up spare lol!
I built the license plate mount into it as well. Bent the inner tube a bit to clear the seem weld on the outer tube
You can pretty much see what I did to make the bigger wheel and tire fit. 1/4" plate welder to the carrier and drilled for studs to fit the wheel.
Then I cleaned it up and have it a couple coats of paint
I also found a way to fit the factory light to keep it legal. I still have to wire it but that's easy and I'll do it Monday.
And it's easily removed to get the tire off as well
I think it came out pretty good.

Loving your bumper and spare tire mount...damn those tires are huge!
I have actually done almost the same project but my rear glass opens without swinging the tire and rack.
I'll fill in the inside edges of the bumpers next year to better match the shape of the tire... might be a 31" tire by then.

Thanks! I really like the look of your mount. I had to keep mine higher to clear the bumper and I built it high enough to clear about a 40" tire (one day after some more upgrades)

Yeah, having the sight out the rear window helps and quick access thru the window is what I was after. Now I need to find another rim as I'll soon need that wheel and tire for the winter. The polished bare aluminum ones will sit inside again this winter.
