Well today I added some power to the rear cargo area in the form of a 12v accessory plug! I pulled the plug from my old landrover when I parted it out with the intentions of doing just this. I still have to run wires from the battery but the hard part is done Heres the pics in progression order!
I drilled and then cut a rough hole in it and slowly enlarged it to fit properly. Don't mind the horibbly ugly cuts I didn't really care since you don't see them anyway.

Final test fit before paint

I painted it black because thats what I had on hand lol. The paint looks bad here but it layed down nice when it dried.

And heres the final product! I think it looks factory myself

Let me know what you think!

Really like the power outlet Rex. I'm hoping to put in something similar this summer along with a compressed air outlet.

looks good! i think you might have been able to tap power off your 7 plug if you got one for trailering, its the charge line.

Its pretty self explanatory so not much to explain but if anyone has questions feel free to ask. I plan to pull it out and paint it (probably black) and I am also thinking about adding a drawer to the middle section but I'm not sure about that yet! Well here's the pictures
The start of the frame

Added some cross support

I used cardboard to make templates of each side and then transfered them to the plywood

Test fit

I cut the solid piece into two for ease of installation and removal

And the final product so far

It gives me a ton of extra storage space to keep my recovery gear and other random things that don't leave the truck under there. Then I can pile everything else on top. Its plenty strong to hold anything that I could ever fit back there as well. Let me know what you think!
I want to do something like that! and then maybe hinge and carpet the top as well... that would be badass... thanks for inspiring us again!

Thanks! I thought about tapping into the tailight wiring but I want it to be on its own fused circuit. It just makes it way easier to trouble shoot if necessary. I do like the idea though!

I plan to carget it but putting hinges on it would be nearly impossible (with my setup). I say this because the way I have it cut to fit around the inner fender area is pretty snug all around and its tight against the back of the rear seats as well. I'm not sure there would be a way to hinge it at least the way mine is setup. You could possibly move the center cut to two cuts farther out and make just the center lift and the sides stationary I suppose. Luckily I have long arms and I can reach all the way in the back lol! Nice idea though make it work and post some pics
