Alright well I would say I have regained my interest in getting these sliders done! It has just felt like a lot of work that I was unwilling to put myself through until now lol! All that is left is to get some 1/4 plate and make some feet to bolt it to the frame and phase one will be complete.
The passenger side is also complete now

I would go buy the steel right now but I am taking the wife out tomorrow night for our 3 year anniversary and we are going into DC where the drinks are stupid expensive This will be our first real night out without having to worry about children and such since Bentley was born 19 months ago!! At least I have a good friend that has a restaurant there so I'm sure he will hook us up!

I also need to get an argon tank so I can make some pretty welds that aren't all covered in splatter

hey, consider making an Xterra style roof rack. They have a metal bin with a lid on the top for putting your muddy shoes and stuff, although that basket you have may work for that too...

I love your blazer. Its just about everything I want to do to mine. Mine is a 97 4 door same color and everything as yours but I got mine 8 months ago from a friend dirt cheap ( or so I thought) but I've only been able to drive it 3 days so far cuz it won't run right. Its either injectors or fuel pump. But that's another topic. The cable you had made you said went to the transfer case are you sure that cable don't go to the front diff instead. If I get torsion lift keys, 2" shackle lifts and a 2" b.l. will I be able to clear 31" tires with only minor trimming or no trimming at all PS. Sweet blazer now my head is spinning like a thousand miles an hour on all the stuff I can do to it

Thanks for the compliments! Yes the cable goes to the front diff not the transfer case. I have accidentally typed the wrong thing on more than one occasion. You should be able to clear with that setup but I've found that somehow every has a little bit different needs to clear.

To help with the question of clearing tires, I've got the RC 2.5" lift AND I'm an inch higher in the front and I still rub 31's with offset wheels. In fact, while getting out of a sticky situation a few weeks ago to avoid being stuck in the bottom of a deep sandy hole I bottomed out the front end and my tires actually hit the top of my wheel well and bend the body up top slightly inwards... and I rub some near full turn and a good flex!

By the way Rex I've got a few ideas floating around and a welder would help out, what'd you get yours for and was it used or new? They have 90 amp ones at Harbor Freight for like $80 but I refuse to trust them, as much as I love the cheapness of that lovely store I have heard too many things about their winches and welders so I can't do it! Hahah.

Also I'll have to post up a few pictures of my latest and greatest once it's finished and back on the truck tomorrow..

A friend of mine has that welder and for mild steel it works great. I don't think it will do anything over 1/8" steel but he has owned it over a year now and no breakage

I think I spent $400 on my welder but I don't remember for sure. I bought it used because I hate paying full retail for anything that I can get used and still works the same as new lol! I really haven't heard horrible things about the HF welder as long as you are using them for why they are rated for. I've seen them used to build bumpers and things. For the occasional small project they are fine for larger fab projects I'd hold out and get something a little larger but that's just my personal opinion. As for the winches they actually have really good reviews and for the cost you really can't beat them for the weekend wheeler.
