The new 'Ho
Well, this summer started off with my A/C going on the fritz. After charging it up once, I traced the leak to the lines back at the rear HVAC unit behind the passenger rear tire. It was leaking right where the line meets the lug that is brazed onto the end. After pricing out the line ($400 my cost), I decided to try something else. Worst case scenario, I block off the lines under the hood, thereby eliminating the rear A/C from the system.
A fellow firefighter & maintenance worker at a local college told me about RedEpoxy. For $16, I had to give it a go. Now, 2 months later, and my outlet temperatures are still in the VERY low 50's with 82F outside temps! Damn glad I decided to give it a go. Time will tell and I'll hopefully be making the same remark next spring!

My mom's envoy xl had the same exact problem. apparently a common problem on gm full sized vehicles of the early 2000s. she paid the full price for repair, wish we knew about your little fix.
Just tested the A/C pressure again over the weekend and it's still well within the recommended range.
Alternator quit charging last night. I'm hoping it is a wiring/connector issue. Pending DTCs were P0622 & P1637 dealing with the F & L terminal signals between the alternator and the PCM. I was going through the diagnostic tree when I noticed that the wires looked discolored where they enter into the 4 pin connector on the alternator so I'm going to change that out first. $15 for the connector from the GM dealership which has it in stock.
Have to change out a headlight housing too. Hit a bird on the way to a fire call this weekend that destroyed the side to side adjuster mount on the driver side headlight housing. Now I just have to decide on what projector housings I want to get. I created a poll/post on that in the lounge --> CLICK HERE.
While I am working on it, I'm going to do a mild t-bar lift on the front to level it out.
Due to both of these issues, I'm drivin' the K5 until I can at least get the Tahoe charging the battery again.

Connector didn't do the trick and only one wire out of the 3 was actually damaged and it really doesn't do anything in this truck. It was the "ENGINE ON" wire that is tied in with the SBA (Supplemental Brake Assist) system that is only used on trucks with a vacuum assisted braking system. My truck has hydro-assisted brakes which gets pressure from the power steering pump.
Everything else checks out fine so a new alternator will be picked up from Napa this afternoon and get it installed.

New alternator from Napa went in. Man this has got to be the easiest vehicle I've ever swapped an alternator in. 15 minutes and it was all over. The hardest part of the whole darn thing was getting the radiator hose back into the bracket attached to the air intake.
It's chargin' like a champ now! I did a quick/dirty fix on the headlight involving some zip ties and liquid nails. Still replacing those housings though!

I've been looking at getting one for the summer wheeling trips!
