Default "operation Blazeranche"

Ok so Ive been kicking around the idea of cutting the top section over the rear cargo area off for awhile. Well today I got a wild hair up my *** and decided to prep everything for "surgery" tomorrow. I started out by taking the rear liftgate off by pulling the pins and unplugging the wires for the defroster and wiper. Then I started, or attempted to pull the rear quarter glass out. Didnt realize that there was 2 different seals on them. Well, the first one shattered on me and I stripped everything. SO I decided since the first ones broke and I gotta vacuum it, might as well break the second one to hurry up and get it done. So I took a hammer and popped it in the corner and got it all out and had to take a box cutter to strip everything. Finally, I re-ran all the wiring that went over top to the bottom. Heres the pics Ive gotten so far and Ill update again tomorrow once I cut it off.

Ok so heres an update so far. Ive cut the headliner and was about to hop on the grinder when 911 toned out for a 4 wheeler rollover and me being a first responder/fire fighter, I responded. Well, got back in(the guy was fine) and my friend thats helping me with the cuts went to lunch so here within the hour Ill be back out there to make the final cuts. What Im gonna do is on the top, Im gonna come back an inch or 2 on the cut and then fold it over nice and neat to make it look like a factory thing. And my friends gonna weld angle iron on the edges where the windows used to be and where the rear posts are sitting. Heres a pic of the headliner cut and Ill update it more through out the cuts

Sounds like you have a good plan. Are you just leaving the back open or are you going to seal it with a new window somehow or another?

i always thought if i did this i would keep the rear top half and try to make a topper out of it..like the old school big boy blazers.
i saw a forum thread on some taco site where he did it that way...came out nicely.

Ok so I finally got the cuts made. Cuts didnt come out as nice as I was hoping because I was in a hurry because I had yet another call. But its off. Still gotta cap everything so its still ugly but its looking good. And to answer your question cochran07, Im gonna have a custom soft top made. Itll snap down and itll line the outline of the back so everyone can tell its a custom made vehicle. Heres some more pics of it topless. Oh and its ALOT stiffer in the back with all that weight off! My t-bars are cranked up all the way and now it looks like its been lowered! lmao
