is it possible to put an old school engine in a 98 blazer ? no vaccum line bs and electric this or that ? how much could you gut a blazer ?

 

If you have emission testing where you live, the truck will still have to meet the standard for its original model year, no matter what engine it has in it.

No matter where you live in the U.S. that's still a Federal violation and about a $2,500 fine if law enforcement spots it. Plus, we don't discuss it here.

the biggest issue you're gonna run into-regardless of just what engine swap you do-is getting the cluster to work.

if you're having major issues with your rig, and don't want to mess with the newer electronics on these things, you can always do a custom cluster with aftermarket gauges. but i think you'll have your work cut out when you go to make a early steering coluum fit these trucks.

your best bet-if you're looking for an easy way to do it-would be to pick up a 1st gen truck, since the early ones were carb'd in the first place.

not saying it can't be done on the 2nd gen platform, it's just gonna take a little more work is al.

 

Of course its possible what old school engine are you talking about? As for vaccum lines you need vaccum to run the brake booster and the hvac system. This can be cured with hydroboost and or a vaccum pump.

 

atthis point its theoretical. i seen on another forum where a guy gutted a bunch of stuff from a jeep. im neither financially able or mechanically smart enough to do this at this point. was just curious could it be done and if so how
