I'm looking for a new tire carrier now. The powdercoaters didn't take it apart when they painted it, so when they cooked it the rubber bushings melted. It was fine for the past year, but recently it started to rattle worse and worse. It go to the point where it sounds like it is tearing the back apart.

When I tried to take out the pins I found them to be mushroomed and bent, so they would have to be zip cut off. The holes that the pins go into aren't round any more due to the rattling that it has done over the past while, so I'd have to drill the holes bigger and find some bigger pins somehow.

After all that would be done, the powdercoating would be pretty much ruined on it. So I figure it might be easier to just find a new carrier.

Waxed and gave her an oil change today so I thought I'd snap a few quick pics after.

Still need to find a tire rack (haven't looked yet) but I did order a new MAF sensor yesterday from Rockauto, so hopefully that will sort out the code that it always throws.

I think it'd look good with a safari rack and the spare tire up top. I like the 2 doors without the tire carrier. But either way I like your blazer... It's kind of funny... Mine is getting pretty close to looking like a 4door version of yours.

I agree a that would be a pretty sweet combo. My only problem with it is that it leaves me with 6 holes in the body where the tire rack was, and the hinge on the tail gate that wouldn't be used for anything.

The other issue is that I'm not the most buff guy, and getting the tire onto/off of the roof would be a total @*&#! I plan on going to a bigger tire too, which would make it even tougher!

Might consider debadging it for the time being. I'm getting restless and I have nothing but debt from school!

When I lift and go to the bigger tires after I've payed the debt off I might get a roof rack and put some lights up there. Go for the full mean look.

You blazer is looking awesome...I just have a quick question...With your tire carrier off are your holes from the carrier just straight through panels or is there a sleeve or anything put in the hole that the mounting hardware goes into... Would it be possible to post a picture of the holes on the blazer so can see..I have a carrier just gotta get the ***** to drill into my 4 dr..

I might have to! The wrecking yards all around me don't have any at all. I'm hoping to snag one cheap because I'll likely get it powercoated again. Hopefully at a discounted cost since they wrecked my last one!

That's what I'm thinkin. A BL and tweaking to fit some 33x12.5's, then a safari rack with some lights up top. Trying to get a wiper cowl too. Would all make it look pretty mean!
