Well I'm not sure if I want to run new wiring for the amp. I hate wires lol. I can do wiring for the subs. Hell, the previous owner left wiring stuffed under the carpet against the firewall from a previous sound system. All I really have to do is run power and ground. I guess I could have it done at a shop, or make it a learning experience.

Zed speaks the truth. you start saying you just want a small sub, then some simple speakers but then it turns into more more more.

If you are debating doing the wiring yourself or pay a shop, do it yourself. these trucks are extremely easy to work in. i've taken the interior in and out so many times that i can literally gut the truck, clean it all, wire it, and put it all back in less than a (including stopping for a few breaks).

hmm. Well If it's not difficult to do, I might as well gut the interior so I can put some Dynamat on the floor. Is that stuff thin enough to not cause issues?

I'm going to be putting quite a bit of sound deadening in. If I turn the music up to a moderate level, and shut the doors, it's pretty loud outside of it, lol. God these trucks are like tin cans.

Oh well. At least it'll rattle less, lol.

Yeah, that reminds me my rear hatch is squeaking again. I guess it's time to wrap it in more electrical tape!

um.... i have a total of 2 inches of sound deadening on the floor. i have issues.

a layer of dynamat won't cause issues with carpet lining up. it also won't kill road noise. dynamat stops a lot of the rattles but won't keep all the music in/noise out. out trucks aren't made for that. our rear hatch is the worst.

I have to agree, i dropped 2 12" rockfords on a punch 300 4chan into the back of my truck, subs on 8 closed up it rattles, on 11 if you put a cellphone on the roof it will dance, anything higher is just asking to bend somethin, i use it a a weapon when someone is tailgatin i just crank up some young joc and shake their car/truck

*edit* my amp is turned down from original rockford levels the bass was so intense it was moving my rearview mirror

haha. Yeah, I may not go HUGE with my system, but I do want it to sound really good. I already have an idea of what to do.
Pioneer Premier 6 1/2? components. Pioneer Premier 6 1/2? 3 way for the rear, 2 Kicker or Rockford 10" or 12" subs, Rockford ~1000 watt mono amp, and Rockford or Pioneer stereo amp(not sure wattage) for speakers.

I may also just go with a Bazooka tube if the Premier speakers hold their own really well. I don't need huge bass, I just want something to get the depth so my sound is very full and rich.

We have a 10" Bass tube in the back of the Wrangler, it's pretty nice it's durable as **** and after it got broken in, works great, and some old MTX 10"s behind the seats of the 1500 (They've been in since '95 and the trucks a '93)

Yeah my freinds dad and my neighbor have cars with a bazooka tube and the tube sounds great. I was very impressed. I just didn't like how it produces all sounds. Like you can hear the voice through it a bit. I can probably fix that issue, though.

if you hear voices through a sub, it means the the low pass filter isn't set right. my sub plays 80hz on down. i hope to get some speakers that will play lower so that i can leave my sub on 63hz or lower and leave it there.

i've never heard a bazooka tube that i liked but thats also because the people who installed them thought they would act like great huge subs... good luck with whatever you decide to do and feel free to ask questions

Oh I will, haha.

Yeah, I'm still interested in doing something big, but I wonder more and more whether I feel it's worth it. I mean, a bigger sound system will be more impressive especially if i want to get this truck to show-ready, but I don't know if i should bother with it because I don't know what I want to do with my truck after a year. I might sell it before I go to college. Everything's in the air, haha!
