Rusty - My '82 K5 4x4 Build
Alright, I guess it's time for me to post up some goodies on my K5 Build...It's actually been in the works for about 10 years now. It got a brand new GM crate 350 (about 400HP) and a custom built 1992 Corvette Spec. 700r4 trans - used a TCI K series Transmission housing (4 different automatic transmissions come together with this part - about $5000 and capable of 700+ HP and more than 500 ft-lbs torque) Most of the really cool work started with a frame restoration after being rear ended by a dodge dually. It was an accident involving 5 different vehicles. The Dodge didn't stop in time when the rest of the highway came to a stop.. maybe he was texting???? Any rate this part of the build can be found here:

The time has come to begin a roll cage, and therefore some rust remediation on the body. Starting with the rear end, the truss / crossmember that supports the tailgate was just decimated, so I decided to replace it. The plan involves a 2 x 3 box tube that will integrate roll cage mounts, as well as serving as a 2.2 gal air tank for the onboard air system. I let my mind get the best of me, and shortly following, I was down at the metal shop ordering up a sheet of 6064 sheet aluminum to replace the bed. Tube truss is now 90% complete, and has been test fitted, and even holds air at 160 psi. I hope pics will follow early this week.
