will 1977 4wd powertrain fit my 1982 2wd
Hello all,
I have a 1982 C?5 2WD Blazer, 305, Auto (tranny needs to be rebuilt). I found a complete chassis out of a 1977 K5 4WD complete with 400, transmission and transfer case. I've always wanted to convert to 4WD. Do you think I can take the motor and tranny out of the 1982 replace with the 400 and its transfer case and tranny (auto also) or will it be a never ending battle of fabricating parts to convert to 4X4? I'm told the engine switch is easy. Kind of expecting the 4X4 front end heavier but the entire rolling chassis is there from the 1977 hoping I can just swap what is needed.
Thank you for any input!

It would be much easier to put your body on the '77 frame. And, even then, I think you'd have to fabricate some body mounts. The frond end of the 2WD frame is completely different from the 4x4 frame, so the 4x4 front drivetrain can't just be bolted on. It can be done, but it's a complete custom job, like putting a solid axle under an S10 or a later model full-size Chevy truck.
