ZR2 4 Door Blazer
I did not want the sas swap. I just wanted a small lift and this way was cheaper than the aftermarket lift kits. Also cheaper the sas. I will drive everyday and like the ifs ride and parts availability if something breaks.
Besides a sas is not the answer for everyone.

Thanks for answering back vs a bunch on internet armchair mechanics. I can understand your concerns. I actually done the dana 30 swap for under $700, so far in my dana60s I have 1k with the links and airbags included. My brackets to hang the leaves were custom but everything else was factory. I was happier with my ride after I got rid of the t-bars it was way smoother mine was and will be a daily also. I also understand SFA isn't for everybody.
Again thanks for the answer. If I would have wanted to know what the forum shared brain thought this week I would have started a new thread and not asked in you in your build thread. I know my personal reasons behind my choices was just wondering yours. I look forward to seeing it finished and wish ya good luck.
its not wether a person approves or disapproves of what some one else is doing, just the fact that he has a set of ball to take on a project like that is awesome, my hat is off to ya, 4 dr zr2 should have come from the factory, but i guess GM never had the ***** to do it.. good job dude...
I am very interested in what you are doing here. I have a 99 Bravada I am swapping a vortec 350 into (project thread on v8s10.org here). I want to put a 5 speed in it, lift it and possibly convert it to 4wd. A few days ago I found a 2000 ZR2 Blazer for sale on craigslist with a 5 speed. I had the idea of simply swapping the Bravada body to the ZR2 frame. After doing some reading it looks like the frame on the ZR2 is too short to do that. I am having a hard time understanding exactly what you are doing with your Blazer. Are you keeping the original 4 door body and frame together and simply welding the front part of the ZR2 frame on the 4 door frame? Or are you putting the body on the ZR2 frame and welding the front part of the 4 door frame on the ZR2 frame? After reading about the frame length difference I gave up on this idea but after reading your post I think maybe my friend who can weld can pull this off. Is there a way to just extend the ZR2 frame without cutting apart another frame to make the 4 door body fit on it? Is it just the front part of the frame that is a different length and do the back body mounts line up or is there more to it? Can you please give more details and maybe pictures of what you did? Like I said I want a suspension lift and 5 speed along with 4wd and this seems like the logical route as everything (except the v8) would be ready in one package more or less. If I attempt this and have to cut apart both frames I will probably get a back up Blazer frame and cut that so I have a backup in case I screw up the ZR2 frame. Sorry for all the questions but I have searched all over google and this is the only thread I can find talking about something like this.
If you want do this you could use another frme from a 4 door. I cut a the factory splice of the frame (located under door). I wold use the zr2 front end. I also usedthe zr2 rear. I had the rear spring mainleaf re arched to the zr2 leaf springs. The zr2 rear main leaf will not fit. The bravada did not have a shifting transfercase. This would need to be wired in. you can send me an email also. I am giving you my other email and will respond from my normal email. Subject will be zr2 4 door. ds47chevy@aol.com
I am also a ember on the zr2 board more pics there. Also look at the photo albums I have more pics thee.

So if I understand you correctly you started with a 4 door frame. Cut the front part off at the door splice. Then cut the same part off the zr2 frame and welded it to the 4 door frame. You then used the rear leafs from the zr2. Correct me if I am wrong. I want to do this but have never welded in my life. I have a friend who is good at welding that I am going to talk to about this. I kind of wanted to take a different approach and put the Bravada body on the zr2 frame somehow because the zr2 has the 5 speed and 4wd I want. I supposed I could do it the way you did and move the 5 speed and 4wd stuff to my 4 door frame. Maybe I should be looking for a junked zr2 just for the front part of the frame then find a non running 4 door blazer with the drive line I want then splice the zr2 and 4 door Blazer frames together then put the Bravada body on top. If I do this I am going to be creating a frankenstien. I hope I am not getting in over my head here.
