1996 S-10 Blazer transmission.
Ok, ever since i bought my blazer, i noticed that when i shift from park, the car takes a few seconds 2 shift, and it makes a kind of thump sound. Especially when i put it in reverse, i have 2 wait a few seconds for it 2 engage. I know that my brothers 2000 blazer does the same thing, but u can't even tell. U have 2 really pay attention 2 it 2 notice. My truck does it and u can hear it. Is this normal? Or is my transmission having some problems?

i hate to make you sound naive or neglective, but have you checked your fluid? My 96 has a very sensitive transmission, and even being about a half a quart low was affecting its performance immensely. I had the shift/timing solenoid replaced, ($100) and its been 100% better since... Its just something to check before you go and start spending a bunch of money.

My '91 Blazer did that, also. I never got around to finding out why it did it, but to me it was more serious than just U-Joints. How many miles do you have on it?

My truck has around 92,000 miles on it. I have had a transmission flush by my mechanic, in which he put on a machine with a tube that sucks all of the oil out of it, and then he replaced the oil. The transmission was leaking at one point a while ago, but it was only a gasket. I'll tell them 2 double check the oil on the transmission, and 2 look at that solenoid, and also the U joints. I work at an auto parts store, and i printed out the diagram for the U joints. I think there are a total of 8 U joints on the truck. I thought about replacing all of them, but i don't know yet.
