Default 1996 transmission change?

I have 1996 s10 blazer 4wd with a bad automatic transmission, I would like to know if a transmission from 1998 will work in my blazer?

What he said, although there are ways to make a 2wdr unit work. Requires swapping the output shaft of the tranny.

You can find a 4L60E from many donor vehicles. Fullsize trucks/Suvs 1/2 ton down in size will ahve a replacement 4L60E, as long as its 4wdr. The fullsize ones are a little stronger then the S10 ones from the factory.
