Jimhens - I have my 2000 Blazer dash completely disassembled and can't seem to get at the actual heater core. I can see it but I can't get at the core because of the surrounding enclosure. There are some screws I can't see that are still anchoring the housing to the firewall and I don't want to start yanking at it in fear of causing further damage. Any suggestions?

Thanks Nicks462, you have done a great job of showing the full scope of the job, this will be a great help. I hope to be able to return the favor some day...

@crusemm Are you certain that those wiring connections were actually plugged into anything before disassembling?

No, I'm not. But I can't be sure. That's why I was asking for help here . I'm about 80% complete with the reassembly, and I don't want to put it back together if I'm going to have to rip it apart again. I did start it up, made sure it would run and shift gears and that some of the switches worked. Can't drive it yet, still lots of parts not put back on. When I get home, I might try to check my Haynes manual for wiring diagrams and see if they connect to equipment that I don't have. Other than that I'm just hoping you guys might have an answer.

Thanks for the help.

nicks462 - I appreciate your help - I actually got the job done and found the PDF's that were posted with these threads very useful. The one screw I was after had to be accessed through the AC unit under the hood - a real pain to get at - but I got it done. Works great. A few screws left over and a couple of new rattles but hey - I saved $1,500 in labour! Thanks again,
