Blown 4.3 swap. What do I need?
Last month I blew my engine in my 96 blazer at only 89,000 miles! I'm going to do a swap for a rebuilt 4.3. Besides mounts, hoses, and fluids, what else do I need?

Are you getting a long block. if so, you will need intake gaskets, exh gaskets and so on. A few of us have done this so if you run into issues let us know. We will point you in the right direction.

Yeah it's a long block. What are some problems you've run into?

Mostly the bell housing bolts are a real peach to get to. Get the entire truck as high off of the ground as possible. That will give you some room. Long extensions will be a big help. The upper driver side bolt is next to impossible. Dropping the trans cross member and tipping the engine back to reach it with a long extension or jacking up the body a little will wok. I took the shortcut and drilled a hole under my accelerator pedal to reach it. Filled it when I reinstall the engine. Use zip lock bags for bolts and hardware. Label everything. The AC will lay over the side. By new motor mounts. You will already be there so might at well. Pictures will help also. I will check back. Feel free to ask as you go. Good luck.
