Default Help!!!! 4.3 to 305

I have a 95 GMC Jimmy and I'm attempting to shove a 305 out of a 91 Firedbird in it and I'd like to keep it throttle body and not have to put a carb on it. I have the ECM out of the Firebird but it will be looking for a 700R4 and not a 4L60E is there a way I can cheat this. The removable chip in the ECM is way different than the one in the Firebird's and I have no idea what to do.

You can get an ECU and associated wiring from a later TBI equiped car or truck that came with the 4L60E so that it could control your trans. You will have to look at the pump cover on your trans though. If it has PWM in raised lettering cast into the pump cover, you will need to find a ECU from a '95 fullsize truck/van that came with a TBI engine and a PWM 4L60E.

But it may be easier to get a 700R4!

Interestingly enough all one must do in this particular aspect is put a V* distributor and cap on and the magnetic pickups do all the work...You don't have to change the PCM at all.

You might want to check into that a bit more. Your current engine only has a single injector driver. Also, you may have the newer EDI distributor (horizontal terminals) in which case, it isn't a simple swap to the older style distributor, at least not without the ECU bellyaching.

'95 was a really messed up year for GM and blazer's in particular.
