Help! Bad Noise

Help! Bad Noise
1989 Chevy S-10 Blazer 4x4. When in 2 wheel drive, I get a bad "squeeking" type of noise, which sounds "tinny." When in 4 wheel drive (high), I get no noise. Any suggestions?

RE: Help! Bad Noise
It sounds like it is coming from underneath car, near front. When listening out of the driver's side window, it sounds like it comes from driver's front tire area; when listening out of passenger' side window, it sounds like it comes from passenger's front tire area. I checked the brakes on both front tires, and both are ok. I cannot duplicate the sound by hand-spinning either tire. I can't hear the noise at idle, only when I am actually driving the car in 2WD. When I get into 4WD, no noise.

OK, I think I fixed it. I checked the front differential, and it was either bone dry or very close. Added my lubrication. No more noise. Hope nothing got messed up. Maybe this post will remind others to check their fluid level.
