It just seems like such a waste to put a governor on a motor this powerful. [large snip]

Now understand, there is a '66 GTO in my past, and I have a 280ZX Turbo in the driveway right now. I've done my share of driving, autocrossing, etc. But bluntly, if you're not racing or driving in a way that's irresponsible and unsafe, there is no need to exceed 95 MPH. If you get into Montana or West Texas (been there) on a wide open road and want to see what it'll do one time, be my guest. After that, there's simply no need to drive that fast; hence, there is no logical reason for the manufacturer to set the governor to higher speeds. In fact, setting a higher limit in an SUV might expose a manufacturer to legal liability. It's easy to see a Blazer ain't a Corvette, and it doesn't need to go that fast.
It's like the man said: "When you play, you gotta pay." If you can't afford the engine rebuild, the hospital time, or the four-figure legal expenses, don't play that way.

I hit the governor just to do it...keep in mind my previous car was an SRT-4 in which I never went past 145mph (Im told with the mods I had it would top out at 161)
Im gonna do it the right way...DD the Blazer, and get a "play" car.
