Default Manual Steering

My Cruiser will be built with manual steering. (and a 4.3L Blazer engine) Do you who have modified Blazers ever switch to manual steering? If so, is it necessary to place a pulley where the PS pump used to be? I am a little worried that the water pump and fan would slip if I just bypass the PS pulley and take the belt up to the A/C compressor. How is that done? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know anyone manual steering. I'm sure you can get a pulley from somewhere, bolt it on a home made bracket, and weld it on frame.

Would it be easier to install the pump and put in a ram? Or go all out and install full hydro. There you can move the Cruiser over while out on the trail. (pendign the knuckle won't break.)

The way I have it set up, I can switch to a power box at any time. With such a short wheelbase, I think the manual will be more stable(so I have been told). I don't plan on super extreme off-roading, but if it becomes a problem, I will go for power. 'Cruisers were built with manual steering, and the first two I owned had manual, so it just seems natural. Also, the setup I have with the Chevy box mounted in front is such a better design than the original, that I am told many would believe it is power anyway. I will have to see how it goes when it is done.
