conversions like this, and i say conversions because, a swap is straight and direct (replacing your broken/tired 4.3 for a better one, is a swap), but when you start getting into fabrication and modifying, the labour cost will far outweigh any gains made from doing it in the first place.
it's not really that difficult to do something like this, you just have to think things through before hackin' and slashin' your way through.

Nothing really to worry about. Should just look it up on the forums and they will tell you what is needed. Just to get you started, if you went to, lets say a 5.3l vortec. Then the following is needed to get there:

Engine (motor mounts, conversion mounts) if youre going to run A/C without the relocation bracket (have to cut frame)

Oil pan (cross member needs to be cut down)

Computer - Re-flashed to v8 (Wiring harness) either buy painless or someone that knows what he is doing. Labor is killer on this since the dash has to come off completely. If you buy painless, expect to pay around the 450+ mark if not higher.

Tranny rebuild kit. (I recommend this) Others may not. Up to you.

After that, its all drive train. Gears and/or posi track. Its really not hard to do if you ever done a motor swap before. All it takes is time and money.

If you put a full-size truck engine in the Blazer you'll need some added height for the intake... This means you'll either need a 2 inch body lift, a cowl hood, or a hole in your stock hood lol.

LSx engines usually fit like a glove height wise... Expensive as ****, mind you any "newer" V8 would be.

Or, put a ls6 intake on it. I've seen a blazer, dont remember if on here or another website that had the truck intake on his and his has a stock hood. It's a 2x4 and it wasnt lifted. It was lowered suspension wise I know for sure.

were you possibly thinking of this truck......02 Xtreme LS swap?

he's using a LS1 intake on it. it's not done yet, but i don't believe he's changing the hood. either way, it'll be really nice to see once it's done.

Na. Its on some other website. Was looking for it. I remember he had the 5.3l with the stock intake on it with stock hood. Ill look for it when I have free time.

But as far as that 02 xtreme swap. Looking pretty nice.

Might want to look into that before you even think about it. Sounds like it would be more work then worth.

never mind that spooky, where the hell is he gonna even find one of those, i don't even think they're over here yet, @ least not in Canada anyways.

besides, it'd be a write-off @ auction, and the cost will far out weigh any fuel savings. but would score major points for the custom factor. definately have to 4 link it, for sure.

ok, i'm outta here for a few-Daytona 500 baby!
