Shift kits are so stiff, but they do decrease wear on your trans. The clutches don't wear out as fast because they are barely used when shifting. There are other advantages, I don't know what they are, though.

Benefits include decreased clutch wear due to shortened shift duration. The clutches are still doing the same thing, but the time it takes for full application of force on the clutch packs is reduced so there is less slipage during a shift. Also, due to the fact that there is less slippage, there is less heat generated, adding some life to your fluid.

I helped Scott (4lowlife) put a kit in his '01 (IIRC) Blazer and he has been pleased with the outcome. I plan on putting one in my Bravada sometime as well.

Now, are the shifts unbearably hard? My sister's Probe had a bad trans. and the 1st to 2nd gear shift was HARD, and it used to suck. If was in that car for too long I would get headache.
