Like I said, from what I have learned, lifter ticks on cold starts is a common problem. The jimmy sometimes does it, but only when its REALLY cold.

on my work blazer i run 15-30w and a pint of lucas oil stabilizer. i have a slight lifter tap when i start it up in the morning but it goes away with a rap of the throttle. in total i have 5 and a half quarts of crankcase fluid. 5 quarts of oil and a half quart (pint) of the lucas. i have about 219,xxx on it and it still runs hard and gets about 17-18. but i do have a lot of crap in the back that i need for work.
