Default 01 Blazer stalling

My truck stalls when I let off the gas. Sometimes it starts up and runs normally, but usually it will die immediately if I dont rev the engine. It will die at stop signs/lights and turns if I don't shift to neutral and keep it revving. Replaced plugs and wires, cap and rotor, and ignition coil with no change in performance. Slight gas smell on some start ups. Not sure what do next...

From the gas smells etc. Id check fuel pressure. It needs to be at key on 55-60 psi. If the pressure falls while key on the fuel regulator is leaking.

Checking the fuel pressure isn't a bad idea. You could also run through some of the other DIY maintenance items such as cleaning the:
  • throttle body (including the IAC bore)
  • the MAF sensor
  • and the EGR valve
Check out the Tech Article (DIY) Index link in my signature below for links to explanations of these specific tasks.

I ended up burning through my alternator wire, so I finished my Big 3 and put the 1/0 ga wire in and it hasn't died since, but it still had the rough idle until a couple days ago. My intake gasket blew, my truck sounded like a tea kettle, but after that it ran a lot smoother. I replaced the gasket today, along with the thermostat, and went ahead and put a new spider injector in. I'll finish putting it all together tomorrow morning, and we'll see how it runs.

UPDATE: Finished everything today, runs great.
