Default '03 Blazer shifts hard from 1st to 2nd

Back again with more vehicle troubles. It never ends.

Anyways I have about a 45-50 minute commute each way/day. Today on my way to work about half way through my commute my '03 4D 4WD 4 Button Blazer started to hard shift from 1st to 2nd, but it would also shift hard from 2nd to 1st. All other gears seemed to work fine. My RPMs wouldn't spike at all, they would hold normal but it would just shift hard. This is the first time I've experience this as well. It behaved normal for the first ~25 minutes of my commute. Reverse still works as well. I usually hit a lot of red lights, but today I got all greens not sure if it matters. Somebody I work said it could be the torque converter. Anyone with experience have any help? Tight on cash hoping it's not a complete rebuild... should I drop it off at my mechanic tonight?

Check for codes first. Sounds like p0741 or p01811. The computer commands high line pressure when it detects a slip. Valve body wear in the TCC circuit is very common. May get by with a rebuilt VB. A lot depends on the condition of the fluid and debris if any found in pan.

You think it's okay to take it ~15 miles to my mechanic or even home which is~35 miles? I'm trying to fix it the cheapest way possible.

I wish I had a crystal ball. More than likely you will be ok for a bit but It will need repaired because you will break other parts needlessly.

Mine was acting the same way, it does it when it gets warmed up, bet overdrive is not working too. Go to Amazon and order a new valve body, easy to install. You will be good to go
