1993 K Blazer, hard 1-2 shifts, non-PWM L460E

I went out yesterday and on the hwy, at 50-55mph, 4gear, 1500rpm, I lightly applied the brake. RPM jumped up about 200, to 1700rpm.
Does this tell us anything?
