Default 1998 Blazer ls tranny problem

Hello all I am new here so I hoped I posted this in the right section I have a 98 ls blazer that was making a sound like a bolt was bouncing around in the bell housing when I went to start it today to go and have it look at it made a popping sound so I shut it down to have a look and didn't see anything so I started it back up and no sound but now it will not go in any gear the sound also stopped. I was told that it was the flex gear but if the flex gear went the truck wouldn't turn over, am I correct with that assumption? and if so what else could it be? any help would be great thanks.

you mean flywheel? if it was cracked it'd make the sound constantly. Sounds like the trans pump went. time to pull the trans.

Thanks for the quick reply Chris well I geuss its time to go back to the tranny man just had the damn thing put in about 4 mnths ago. that's why I thought maybe a bolt or something but it only did it when I started it up in the morning then it would be fine once it warmed up and you would hear a clunking sound every once in awhile but not all the time. thanks again

when he built it,did he ask you what you planned on using it for? If i go to a shop and tell them i want it rebuilt, and they just say "ok when can we do it?" i go else where as they just pull a stock one off the shelf and stick it in. there is a weak point in these things, which is the sunshell. If you end up having to have it rebuilt, ask for the beast sunshell. its about 150-200 bucks but its WORTH it. its heavy duty and doesnt strip like the stock one. if he says its not needed, find someone else. Also ask for a mild shift kit. you will feel the shifts,it wont be baby smooth like a new trans, but it will prolong the life incredibly.

Hay Chris Thanks again for the info. but the good news is I was able to fix the problem myself, just for the hell of t I pulled the round inspection plate off the bottom and found out that the *** never tightened the dam torque convert bolts and only had one in it put new bolts in and she run better than before. lesson learned never trust someone you never did business with before. Have a friend whos brother works at a repair shop and he is going to give me paper work stating that this man messed up bad I called the other guy and told him what happened and I wanted a refund for the ****ty job he did. thank god nothing major happened to it because of him. any thanks for your advice. Brian
