I am doing a swap from a 1998 S10 Truck v6 4.3l to a 1998 Blazer 4x4, the stock motor in the blazer had a coolant leak from the previous owner and I dont know how long they drove it but there is a tick in the motor and the engine oil was like a white sludge, so I pulled the motor and I am about to install the v6 from my s10 which has 70,000 and the blazer has 84,000. The blazer is black, fully loaded, leather interior and no rust so I couldnt resist, I pulled the V6 out of my s10 and swaped it with a 5.7l v8 so I figured I would use the v6 from my s10.

Now for the question, I had a leaking intake gasket so I will install a new intake gsket kit before I install it, what else would you do tothe v6 I am installingbefore I install it as I have full access to everything at the moment, I will install new plugs and wires while its out as well, I hada powerdyne supercharger on it for about 25,000 miles running stock 8 lbs of boost butI have removed it from the V6 before I install it in the blazer as I want it to be a reliable every day driver .

Replace the rear main seal. Only two ways to replace that $10 part, pull the tranny or pull hte engine. while you have the engine out, replace the tranny input seal too. Again the only way to replace it is to pull the engine or tranny, and its a $5 part. Make sure you lubricate it with ATF before you insert the torque converter. Starting up the truck with that seal dry could dry it, then you get to pull one of them all over again.

I would also replace the oil pan gasket too if you see any signs of leakage. Again in a 4x4 the only way to replace it is with the engine out or drop the whole front axle.

Pretty much everything else can be fixed while in the truck.
