Default 1999 blazer noise issues

Hello i just got picked up a 1999 chevy blazer for dirt cheap it has 240,000 it has been family owned ever since it was brand new. Nothin ever major has had to be replaced just the common oil change and tune ups.

Went to go pick it up and when it first starts up it has a tapping noise but goes away after the engine gets some heat i guess then u dont hear it anymore. I have changed the oil..used all different oils and additvess. What else could it be? i am lost and could use some help

well a vehicle with 240,000 miles on the original engine is assumed to be making noise. Its probably the lifters, could need a timing chain. Additives dont fix anything, they are just band-aids

i relize with a motor with 240xxx on it will have its problems and noises but i just wanted to make sure i was in the same ball park with it as i plan on doing a minior tear down of the motor..lifters..timing..chain and the upperr and lower intake gaskets..i am not the new to all this 4x4ing as i do have a 92 explorer that has a 6inch lift on it with a soa in the rear. i am just new to this whole chevy thing but i gotta say its built better then my explorer was new lol..

With 240xxx on my truck what should i watch for and replace now? Is there any common problems i need to watch for at this point? Thanks for all your help in this

their weakest points are intake gaskets, and the fuel injector regulators leaking. When taking the upper intake off look for clean spots that indicate fuel leaks. It should be a little dirty under there. There is a balance shaft in the motor, when doing the timing chain check out the gear on it and make sure it doesnt get out of time.
