Default 1999 Chevy Blazer Engine Noise

My girlfriends dad has a blazer that’s been sitting because of this problem, I went and looked at it today. As soon as you start it up there’s this really loud constant clanking and it doesn’t go away. It’s on the passenger side of the engine. I’m going to attach the video I took of it too, I’m trying to gather what it might be so we can fix and sell or sell and let whoever know what all it needs.

Have you checked the fan mounting to the fan clutch? Is the fan hitting the shroud, radiator, etc.? I can't be certain because of how short the video is but it looks like the fan could be wobbling.

I think it sounds more towards the passenger side then the fan but I’ll look at that too. I can’t upload a longer vid because it’s over 5mb unfortunately

For longer videos, try using a video hosting site like Youtube, then paste in the link to your video in your posts.

As far as the problem, from the short video it sounds like it could be internal to the engine and very possibly could be a rod that has spun its bearing.

A longer video that includes a segment where your recording device is under the truck on both the passenger & driver sides of the oil pan would help. You can also rule out any of the accessory components by removing the serpentine belt. Short runs without the belt will be fine, but don't run it for more than a minute or two before allowing things to cool completely.

So I put a code reader to it and it has a cylinder 6 misfire and something about the air injection system, do y’all think it’s worth fixing if I even can or just get a new engine?
