Default 1999 Transmission Rebuild

Well, my son's 1999 blazer was not going into reverse, so I checked the usual things.... tranny oil, fuses, etc. After doing a little research, I decided it was probably the tranny just going bad. Almost 200K on it. So we dropped it this weekend and I noticed a few things..... There is some kind of an electronic (plastic) box on the drivers side where the linkage hooks up. Does anyone know what this box is actually called? I need a new one as that one is cracked. Also the wiring harness that goes to that box is damaged. Where do you guys recommend that I order these from? Or can I just get them from somewhere like Autozone?

We are going to go ahead and have someone local rebuid the tranny, but the electrical stuff I can just put back on once it's rebuit and I reinstall it.

Thanks for any input!

I forget the name of that box, but my guess is that is your entire problem. The box controls most of the electrical of the tranny.
