RPM needs to be snapped above 2000 and back to idle before the camshaft retard reading will be accurate. You can adjust it at idle, but I choose to do it with the engine off to avoid getting zapped from a faulty plug wire Then restart, snap above 2000 and back to idle, then recheck. Might take a couple of times, but it beats getting poked!
