2.8l or 4.3l

2.8l or 4.3l
my 86 blazer had a 2.8 in it should i swap it for a 4.3 or find another 2.8

Going to a 4.3L means you'll have to find a different transmission as well. You can swap in a 3.4L v6 from a camaro/firebird as a direct swap for your 2.8L and get more cubes.

so a 3.4 would just be a thing of getting it and dropping it right in without having to modify the engine mounts or anything???

I think you would probably have to change engine mounts radiator and transmission.

If you go to the 3.4L, it is a direct bolt in as I already said. Mounts are the same although, while you have it out, you may want to replace the mounts.
You will not have to mess with anything else.
If you go to the 4.3L, then mounts, transmission, etc will need to be changed.

ok thank you for helping me out

3.4 is the way to go, its just like pulling a 305 out and putting a 350 in its place.
There was also a 3.1 in the f bodies that is also a direct swap.
Personally the 4.3s were only good to use as the base for a v8 swap. I've never like the engine design nor the problems that came with chopping the 2 cylinders off.

the reason why im putting a v6 in my blazer is beacause i got a 79 el camino which is gonna be the v8 car
if i was going to put the 4.3l in my blazer how would i get it so the mounts line up instead of modifying the frame

The frame should not need modification. Simply use the 4.3L mounts from a newer 1st gen and you should be good to go concerning the mounts. But as stated, if you are thinking of going to a 4.3L, you might as well go v8 because the work is almost the same. The 3.4L v6 swap will net you a good gain in power and not require a host of other changes to make it work.
